DC/DC Converter for defence applications

Since the early 1980s, Elektra has switched its production technology from conventional printed circuit boards (PCBs) to thick-film ceramic board technology. For power electronic circuits, which naturally have an efficiency of less than 100 % and therefore generate heat, this technology offers decisive advantages over PCB designs.
Al2O3 ceramic is a good heat conductor, aluminum nitride is even better (7 times better). In combination with a housing milled from a solid aluminum block (from our own production), optimal conditions for thermal handling can be achieved. We can also process unpackaged chips/die with our bonding machines, which offers further advantages in terms of vibration/shock and thermal properties for defense applications. We can perform all necessary EMC, thermal and vibration/shock tests in-house. This enables great flexibility in development and shorter development times.
